Bernie Madoff’s Prison $entence July 14, 2009

I didn’t lose any money to his scam and I don’t know anybody who did; so I don’t have any vested interest in his sentence.  However, I think prison is too good for him.

Here is a man who has stolen billions of dollars; and yet, you and I are expected to feed, cloth, and house him for the rest of his life.  Seem rather unfair, doesn’t it?

He should not be set free in the normal sense, but he should be required to earn a living and pay his own way.  His income should be capped in the range of 1½ to 2 times the poverty level.  Any income above that level should be return to the people he defrauded. He should not be allowed to leave the country and his travel within the U.S. should be severely limited.  After all, he has no money and whenever he earns a little extra, we take it and pay back a bit of what he stole.

It’s an interesting fantasy and My 2 Cents Worth.
